“The Extractive Industries Working Group is a Washington, D.C. based coalition of faith, human rights, and environmental organizations concerned about the negative impact of extractive industries on Creation which includes both the human and natural world.” AFJN has worked with the Extractive Industries Working Group for several years. The group addresses concerns globally and coordinates on advocacy around improving the policy and everyday reality around extractive industries’ practices like mining, fracking, logging, and land grabbing.
The group shares its Faith-Based Principles for Extractive Industries (also available in Swahili) for organizations or individuals wishing to strengthen their answer to the question: How should extractive businesses interact with (African) countries and communities?
