Empowering Young Advocates for Justice: AFJN’s 2026 Summer Intern Program

This summer, Africa Faith and Justice Network (AFJN) interns built on the organization’s participation in the 2026 Ecumenical Advocacy Days conference in Washington, DC. Centered on the theme, “Protecting People, Peace, and Planet,” the gathering brought together Christians from across the United States to reflect on their responsibility to defend human dignity, promote peace and justice, and care for God’s creation.

Through research, outreach, and public-policy engagement, AFJN interns gained practical experience in helping our faith communities keep the issues we care about before Congress. In fact, effective advocacy requires persistence. The work of advocacy did not end when the conference concluded. It continues through education, public engagement, and sustained action.

Today, we ask you to join this advocacy effort by contacting your Members of Congress and urging them to support critical legislation that reflects our shared moral and Christian responsibility.

AFJN urges Congress to:

• Pass the Protecting Sensitive Locations Act (H.R. 1061 / S. 455) to protect schools, hospitals, houses of worship, and courthouses from immigration enforcement actions.
• Support the NO BAN Act (H.R. 924 / S. 398) to prevent discriminatory travel bans.
• Advance the Dream Act and the American Dream & Promise Act to provide pathways to citizenship for Dreamers and immigrant families.
