“We are organizing a Global Day of Action on Military Spending on April 12, 2011to coincide with the release of the Stockholm International Peace Research Institute’s (SIPRI) new annual figures on world military expenditures. On this day, people on all continents will join together in joint actions to focus public, political, and media attention on the costs of military spending and the need for new priorities. Such events will help us to build the international network around this issue.”
Come join us in front of the White House on Tuesday, April 12 at noon for an hour of poetry, puppetry, and protest as part of the Global Day of Action on Military Spending. We’ll have flash facts, photo ops, and budget exercises for the curious. Come hear poets Dan Vera, Mark Nowak, Sarah Browning, Kim Roberts, Jonathan Tucker, and Esther Iverem along with Bread and Puppet Theater and much more. Representatives from some truly great organizations, including IPS, EmpowerDC, Jobs with Justice, Peace Action, and Veterans for Peace, will provide our flash facts. Swing by our Facebook event page and let us know you’re coming!
