The time to break the silence about male rape during armed conflict is long overdue. In the film “Rape Against Men”, a Refugee Law Project , shows that there is in fact a widespread male sexual violence that men are victims of in the war torn Africa’s Great Lakes region. Unlike rape against women, very little has been written about this issue.

Dealing with shame is not easy for victims of rape. Above and beyond the hopelessness that people are subjected to by armed conflicts, male rape has been used as a weapon of war. “The problem is persistent and global.” says Emily Rauhala Also she adds that “[F]or the most part, though, nobody wants to talk about it.”
