Etsegenet Kedir has a Bachelor’s degree in Law from Addis Ababa University (Ethiopia) and a Master’s degree in International Human Rights Law from Lund University (Sweden). Her interests include public policy, advocacy and women empowerment. She is also working as an intake volunteer at Washington Lawyers Committee in Washington, DC.
Etsegenet grew up in Ethiopia and worked in several different capacities in nonprofit and government organizations. She is very excited about this internship opportunity at AFJN, hoping that she will gain additional knowledge and practical skills in the areas of advocacy and analysis of U.S policies that impact the continent of Africa and its people. Upon completion of her internship, she wants to work in the nonprofit sector, focusing on public policy, advocacy and human rights to improve the lives and interests of disadvantaged groups of people.
