Just recently the Nigerian female bobsled team qualified to attend the 2018 Winter Olympics, making them the first ever Nigerian athletes (male or female) to represent their country at the Winter Games. Former track stars, these three women – Seun Adigun, Ngozi Onwumere and Akuoma Omega – who started out training with a homemade wooden sled just one year ago are now headed to South Korea in February. Their Olympic bid was originally funded by a crowd funding campaign, and now the team is sponsored by Visa. We look forward to watching them compete next year!
