Uganda
On February 8, the feast of St. Josephine Bakita, the Africa Faith & Justice Network Uganda (AFJN-Uganda) organized a nationwide prayer session for the victims of human trafficking, and called for an end to this evil.
On the same day three sisters held a radio talk show on Jubilee Radio in Fort Portal City Uganda to create public awareness about the scourge of human trafficking in Uganda as well as the tricks of human traffickers. Jubilee Radio has been used by overseas labor recruiting companies to advertise rosy jobs oversea to lure young Ugandans away from home.
On Friday, February 7, 2020 the eve of Saint Josephine Bakaita, the sisters were notified that the Minister of Gender, Labor and Social Development held a multi-agency meeting to device better strategies for coordinating labor migration. In November 2018, AFJN requested this and other related ministries with power to create change at local and national levels. In May and November 2019 representatives of the ministries were convened to produce effective strategies for monitoring the over 148 companies that recruit young Ugandans for job overseas. Many of these young people have ended up in the hand of human traffickers.

AFJN initiated a sustained public campaign beginning in 2017, to create awareness and sensitize people to the evil of human trafficking in Edo state, including town hall meetings, radio and TV programs and advocacy visits to law makers and traditional rulers. Sister Gloria reports that participants at the walk were urged with these words: “Let us continue to unite efforts and fight against this evil of human trafficking anywhere and everywhere”
