The Comboni Missionaries, an AFJN Organizational Members, featured a story about our work on child protection in Nigeria. In the article “Africa Faith and Justice Network: An international organization is working hard — so children don’t have to,” Ellen Baverman writes that while “Nigeria [has] adopted the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child” some reports indicate that half of Nigeria’s children are working, some in very dangerous jobs. Baverman notes that child protection in Nigeria is only one area of AFJN’s focus in Africa. AFJN also works to combat injustice towards women and children and stop human trafficking by educating and empowering religious communities to do grassroots advocacy.
