Elian Romano Brandt is a junior at the University of Regensburg in Bavaria, Germany, participating in 2022 Fall Semester Program at the American University in Washington DC. He majors in political science with an emphasis on international politics and minors in public law, history and gender studies.

Elian has been engaged in non-partisan groups concerned with issues regarding refugee policy, racial discrimination, and climate change. Because of this engagement, years of voluntary work with refugees and his outstanding academic accomplishments he was awarded with a prestigious scholarship from the German Academic Scholarship Foundation and admitted as a member of the Max Weber-Program, Elite Network Bavaria.

Elian’s interest in intra-African politics was strengthened through his participation in the National Model United Nations 2022 in New York City. As an intern for the Africa Faith and Justice Network, Elian is especially interested in learning about conflict prevention, combating corruption and gender equality in various African countries.
