United Nations Security Council (UNSC) Reform (Action 8): AFJN advocates for an inclusive UNSC representing a broader spectrum of nations. Decisions affecting global peace must include representatives from the countries and continents most impacted by insecurity. Diverse voices from the diverse cultures must be represented to ensure that no select few would monopolize the resolutions.

Today, the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) held an emergency meeting to discuss the coup in the Republic of Niger (Niger). This meeting followed the unsuccessful August 8th attempt to send an ECOWAS’ tripartite delegation to meet with military authorities in Niger. Since the July 26 coup, ECOWAS has held several meetings “to deploy all measures in order to restore constitutional order in Niger” prior to using military force. The United States, while reluctant to declare a coup, has been in communication with the ousted President and the junta leaders hoping for a peaceful resolution and restoration of constitutional order.

In view of this, in March 26 and June 3, 2023, Africa Faith and Justice Network Nigeria organized a day workshop for the youths of Sacred Heart Parish, Airport and St. Kizito Parish, Kuje both in Abuja. The workshop was targeted at galvanize the energy of these youths to work together to end domestic servitude and human trafficking and to educate and sensitize them on the dangers of these vices which is predominantly harming the youths.

Since 2003, PEPFAR has saved millions of lives around the world by providing capacity strengthening to local health systems, increasing access to lifesaving medications, and supporting adults and children living with HIV/AIDS.
