From September 13-15, 2016 at St. Gasper Conference Centre Dodoma Rev. Aniedi Okure, AFJN Executive Director spoke to a gathering of 82 leaders representing faith based organizations, civil society group, and government agencies about the need to reevaluate, prevent or take back large portions of land which have been grabbed by foreign multinationals and local elites. In his remarks he said that “Large-scale land acquisition is part of the Western development and capitalist economic regime that continues to make Africa a continent for cheap raw material extraction and market for high priced finished products.” Click here to read his full opening remarks and here to read the conference’s final communique.
